About Me
Whenever I help a student, I always ask them what their weakest at in the subject, and then almost re-teach them the foundations and then work the student up so that when they reach that difficult topic, they understand it better. For tutoring in language arts, sometimes I'll bring books and/or literary classics if the problem is analyzing literature, or if not I'll print out a speech from Hamlet to work on rhetorical devices. I like to play around with different tutoring techniques, as every student is different in their learning method. I am super flexible and would work around your schedule. I also love talking to my students and getting to know them a little bit better.
Education
I will graduate from Miami Dade College and School for Advanced Studies North Campus in the Spring of 2021 with an Associates in the Arts in Art History/Philosophy.
Teaching Experience
I first started tutoring in 2015 under an organization at my school that paired up highly achieving students with under performing elementary school students in language arts. I worked under that program for a year until I started to tutor Algebra I afterschool to a group of middle school students. In high school I continued to create tutoring groups with students that struggled in English and decided to tutor elementary kids at a local daycare for free. Although I have mostly tutored in math and reading, I started tutoring chemistry in 2018 and today I help college students in my school with introductory chemistry and General Chemistry I (CHM1025 & CHM1045).I always put my all in a student and give them the dedication and time I would want someone to give to me if I need help with a tricky concept. Although I have never tutored for profit, I am determined and open to taking specific tutoring courses and receiving certification if need be.
Interests
When I don't tutor, I work on my college classes, read, occasionally write short stories, play violin, carry several family responsibilities, and run my nonprofit advocating for sexual violence survivors.
I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
