SHSAT Overview
The SHSAT exam is offered to 8th and 9th grade students and used to determine admission to New York City's Specialized High Schools. The test uses multiple-choice math and verbal q uestions to measure students' academic fundamentals and reasoning skills.
SHSAT Scoring
Each year a raw score is scaled to a scaled score between 200-800. Unlike the SAT, students are not penalized for incorrect answers. Each high school has different score requirements. Historically, Stuyvesant High School has the most competitive score cut-off.
