About Me

Education

I graduated from Drake University in 2018 with a Bachelor's in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology. In addition to my degree, I minored in Biology and completed a concentration in Women's and Gender Studies. As a well-rounded student, I have extensive writing and composition experience at the college level and consistently achieved high grades in my English courses as well as my science-heavy curriculum courses.

Teaching Experience

I started tutoring in high school as a part of my National Honors Society volunteer hours, opting to tutor my peers in subjects including Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Spanish, Biology, Chemistry, and English. During my undergraduate studies, I served as a mentor and teacher for students in the Honors Program, which entailed analyzing and discussing assigned class material. As part of the regular curriculum, I created supplementary materials to further engage my students to think like academics. I renewed my tutoring interests with Parliament Tutors during my later years at Drake. Since that time, I have tutored in ACT/SAT prep, English literature and composition, Anatomy, and Precalculus. Given my experiences as a mentor and tutor, I know just how important it is to tailor material to the student in order to help them not only achieve the best grade possible but to cultivate their interests in academics. I pride myself on being a well-rounded tutor who can tutor on a wide range of subjects; including Spanish, mathematics, the sciences, the humanities, and standardized tests.

Interests

To unwind and keep my mind active, I enjoy yoga, as well as knitting and crocheting. The latter I started when I was 12 and have never lost interest! I get immense satisfaction from trying a new creative pattern and completing a complicated project for a friend. I also enjoy reading books, listening to podcasts, and watching movies and TV shows in my free time. If you ever need quality recommendations on the above, I am more than happy to oblige!

I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
