About Me
My name is Dayna Altman and I am here to support you!! I am passionate about empowerment through teaching and tutoring and will make sure our sessions are full of content based learning and emotional support. I know how hard school can be, I want to be a partner in supporting you in that. I am passionate about mental health and studied Human Services and Psychology at Northeastern University. Later I got my Master's degree there in Public Health. Growing up, I had a lot of test anxiety and could have used a cheerleader, let me be that for you!!
Education
I attended Northeastern University for both my Master's in Public Health and BS in Human Services and Psychology. Since then I have gone to work with youth (ages 12-18) in a multitude of community settings both individually mentoring and group teaching. Currently, I am pursuing my dream of professional public speaking and I feel using my skills each day to share my messages nationally. I am looking for supplemental work that is fulfilling and supportive to the youth in my community.
Teaching Experience
Right after college, I worked as a DBT educator at a psychiatric hospital. DBT stands for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and describes a collection of therapeutic skills. In this role, I had my own classroom and taught small groups as well as supported patients one on one in learning about these skills.
Interests
I am a mental health advocate and entrepreneur. I created my own LLC: Bake it Till You Make it, which combines baking and mental health education. I am incredibly passionate about what I do and you can always find me trying out a new recipe or working a new cookbook. I also enjoy cycling and spending time with those I love.
I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
