About Me
I received my bachelor's degree in Archaeology and Materials from MIT in 2013 and my PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University in 2017. For my PhD research I studied 3D printing of metal micro-lattices. I then moved to MA and worked in industry developing novel 3D printing technologies. While not working, I enjoy tending my vegetable garden, playing video and board games, hiking, cooking, and spending time with my husband and cat.
Education
Massachusetts Institute of Technology - B.S. in Archaeology and Materials Science (June 2013) and minor in Spanish; Northwestern University - PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (Dec 2017)
Teaching Experience
I tutored and helped friends and classmates with various subjects, primarily math and science, while in high school. I was a graduate teaching assistant for Symmetry and Mechanical Properties of Materials for 2 years. I developed a laboratory module to teach students about the tensile properties of metals and polymers and helped students with science concepts, homework, and test prep during regular office hours. In my industry job, I have developed standard operating procedures for running equipment and troubleshooting machine failures and have then taught technicians and interns how to perform these operations.
Interests
I enjoy tending my vegetable garden, playing video and board games, hiking, cooking, and reading books.
I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
