About Me
Something that I share with my students fairly early on as I begin to gain trust and establish a safe-friendly classroom environment, is that I was a student who had learning disabilities, which required me to advocate for my own learning and seek further assistance. Once I learned to ignore the stigmas that can stifle one's confidence and ability to grit through obstacles, I realized that asking for help is one of the greatest testaments of strength in addition to acknowledging when you don't know something and want to know more.
Education
I went to Marist College (now known as Marist University) in Poughkeepsie, NY and graduated in 2012 with a BA in Psychology. During that time, I developed an interest in social work and athletic coaching.
Teaching Experience
As a student athlete I first gained experience tutoring my fellow teammates in high school. In college I student-interned in an afterschool tutoring program, and while attending graduate school I got my first job as an assistant teacher and 1:1 paraprofessional. Since then, I have held multiple teaching positions in different environments and have had the most positive experiences working in private special education schools.
Interests
When I'm not tutoring/teaching/working I enjoy playing board games that require a fair amount of strategy. I also enjoy role-playing tabletop games, and the occasional pick-up game of basketball and volleyball.
I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
