About Me
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in History and Government with a concentration in American Politics. Since graduation, I have worked as an ESSER tutor for a Texas school district, teaching and tutoring children who need extra assistance outside the classroom. I have also been able to directly assist middle school and high school students in successfully passing their State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) in English. I primarily have helped students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia or ADHD, and have assisted students in finding effective learning strategies that allow them to flourish both inside and outside of the classroom. While I tutor a broad range of subjects that include English, History, and Government, my passion truly lies in teaching students the value of history, and how important the past is in informing the present. In my experience, helping students who seem to struggle in the general areas of humanities, I have found it extremely successful to learn about the student’s interests and favorite topics, as it allows them to invest in their school work while still learning the critical skills they need for to be successful in the classroom. I enjoy making the virtual classroom a kind and collaborative environment that allows students to succeed socially and academically. In my spare time, I love reading, writing, and researching historical topics, and love to travel across the world exploring various cultures. I was also a student-athlete throughout high school and college, and I love to support students who have diverse academic and extracurricular interests!
