About Me
My overall goal is not only to provide advice and assistance to students but also to help them build confidence in their ability to make progress and flourish academically. I've worked with many students who feel unsure of themselves and their propensity to achieve their goals. Overall, I want these students to leave sessions with a growth mindset as opposed to a fixed mindset.
Education
I am currently attending Southern Utah University. I work as both a writing tutor and a writing fellow at the university's undergraduate writing center alongside students of all majors, English proficiency levels, and backgrounds. I'm majoring in English with an emphasis on rhetoric and writing, and I plan on graduating in 2026.
Teaching Experience
I've completed formal tutor training through Southern Utah University's writing center. I took a semester-long tutor practicum class as well as completed various training modules and progress logs over the year and a half that I've worked there. I've had my sessions consistently observed by the writing center's directors to ensure that I'm providing the most valuable help to students. Informally speaking, I've read quite a bit about pedagogy theory on my own time and provided unpaid assistance to friends and siblings. Additionally, I've volunteered as a reading and literacy tutor for elementary-level children.
Interests
I am an avid classic rock fan and can consistently be found practicing my favorite guitar riffs in hopes of impressing my loved ones. I also enjoy baking and love to sell pastries and baked goods to the community when I get the chance. On a less hectic day, one can usually find me swimming laps at the pool and reminiscing about my time spent as a competitive swimmer.
I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
