About Me

I would like my students to know that I love what I do and sharing how to learn in the way that helps the student the most. Everyone learns differently and I love helping my students achieve their goals.

Education

I attended the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware from June of 1985 through June 1989 where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. I took a graduate level engineering classes at University of Maryland at College Park and C++ programming at Strayer University in Manassas, Virginia. I completed my Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry with an emphasis in Counseling which I completed in June of 2014. I am in the process of enrolling in graduate school again to pursue a Masters in Analytics and I am waiting for final admission.

Teaching Experience

I have been tutoring and conducting art, math, science, and writing camp programs since 1989 as an entrepreneur and for various tutoring agencies as an independent contractor. I have worked with all ages of students, from preschool to the seniors and everyone in between. My experiences cover a wide range of demographics and include ESL and some students with learning disabilities. My focus is literacy and STEM education. I also work with students to prepare for the SAT and ACT. During my 35 years as a tutor, research/teaching assistant, and trainer, I have focused on teaching and preparing lesson plans for these courses (but not limited to individual, 1:3, and workshop setting environments. (Please check resume for the full list.) Specifically, I have tutored students in earth science, oceanography, algebra I and 2, precalculus, calculus, statistics, engineering stats, Spanish 1, English composition, social studies, psychology, geometry/trigonometry, study skills, and SAT/ACT prep.

Interests

I am an amateur songwriter/sing and portrait/paper craft artist. I also a little photography, archeology, nature watching, reading biographies, reading about history.
